BURNEY, Calif. (AP) — Fire officials say light rain and increased humidity helped crews make progress against two wildfires in a Northern California forest that are just miles apart and are threatening hundreds of homes. The smaller of the two fires in the Lassen National Forest is near Burney and threatening more than 700 homes, some of which have been evacuated. The nearby has forced the evacuation of about a dozen homes.
GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) — Cooler temperatures and scattered showers helped firefighters hold the line on the Oregon Gulch fire in the Siskiyou Mountains straddling the Oregon-California border. Fire officials said today the fire remained at 57 square miles for the second day in a row.
