The driver charged with the hit-and-run death of a Chico State student changes his plea in court. 20-year-old Riley Hoover plead no contest to felony counts of driving under the influence causing injury and leaving the scene of the accident at the Butte County Superior Court on Wednesday. Hoover also faced charges of transporting marijuana for sale, manufacturing concentrated cannabis, and money laundering but those charges were dropped as part of the plea agreement. Hoover struck and killed 21-year-old Chico State nursing student Kristina Chesterman while she was riding her bike back on September 2nd. Hoover then left the scene. When officers found him he had a .33 blood alcohol level. Hoover was given a 7-year prison sentence as part of the plea deal. He will be sentenced on September 5th.
