An early morning fire in Corning Wednesday reportedly looks suspicious. The fire broke out about 7 am Wednesday at the Kauffman Building at 5th and Solano in Corning. It took about 2 hours to get a handle on the abandoned building. No one was injured, but nearby buildings were evacuated as a precaution and Solano Street between 4th and 6th streets was closed down. There were reports of heavy smoke from the fire. One fire official says the fire was not caused by faulty wiring, so it now looks suspicious.
