Prison reform comes before Chico Leaders this week. The Chico City Council will be looking at the Reducing Crime and Keeping California Safe Act of 2018 which is not unlike on approved act by the city of Eureka recently and looks at changing prison reform laws. Specifically, the Act seeks to challenge some of of the changes made under Assembly Bill 109 and proposition 47 that were both passed by voters. The New measure is set to go before voters in November. It seeks to add to a list of violent crimes to make offienders not eligible for early release and to expand the collection of DNA.
