Butte County Supervisors Approve Budget

A new budget for Butte County gets the thumbs up. Supervisors yesterday approved a new and balanced almost half billion dollar budget. It represents an increase of 3 and a half percent over the previous year but eliminates 60 positions, all but one of which are currently vacant as department heads prepared for the cuts. The new budget will also see 24 part-time staff hours eliminated at five of the six countywide libraries. The budget was approved by a vote of 4-1 with Larry Wahl voting against it.
