BCSO - Closed Evacuation Areas Still No Access to the Public

The Butte County Sheriff's Office says it's receiving many calls from residents requesting to be allowed access to closed evacuation areas. They say while they understand the frustrations and concerns of residents of areas affected by the Camp Fire, they are NOT allowing access to the public at this time.

According to a Butte County Sheriff's press release, any person that enters and remains in a closed area may be arrested and charged with a misdemeanor.

Also, residents that have chosen to shelter in place within the mandatory evacuation areas must remain in their residence. The Sheriff's Office says if you leave you will escorted out by law enforcement. If any resident leaves a closed evacuation area after sheltering in place will not be allowed to return until the evacuation has been lifted.
