First Camp Fire Looting Defendant to be Sentenced

22-year-old Shayne Tinnel, Jr. of Magalia was sentenced, in Butte County Superior Court, Thursday to the maximum of three years in prison for a case of a stolen R-V from a Magalia residence during the Camp Fire evacuation.

On November 12th the former owner of the R-V spotted it and Tinnel in Oroville and contacted the current owner asking if he had sold it. The owner said he had not and that he left it at his property when he and his family evacuated from the area. He found out from authorities that the R-V was missing from his driveway. The next day deputies saw the R-V at the Chico Walmart. Tinnel was contacted and detained. According to a Butte County District Attorney press release, deputies found stolen property including two backpack leaf blowers and a large flat-screen TV inside the R-V.

Tinnel was also orderd Thursday to pay $2,736 in restitution.
