A mass overdose in North Chico left one person dead and 14 people hospitalized over the weekend. The incident was reported around 9 Saturday morning at a home on Santana Court off of Ceres Avenue. Chico Police believe the drug Fentanyl combined with another unknown substance were the cause of the overdoses. Action News Now is reporting that the person who died at the scene has been identified as 34-year-old Aris Turner. C-P-R was preformed on six people and six doses of Naloxone were administered in an attempt to reverse the effects of the drug. According to Chico Fire, a mass casualty incident was declared to prepare hospital staff for the large number of patients. A total of 14 people were taken to two area hospitals...11 to Enloe Medical Center and three to Oroville Hospital. Four people were listed in critical condition and three were in serious condition. All three at Oroville Hospital have been released and four from Enole have been released. The seven still at Enloe are currently reported to be in good condition.
Santana Court was taped off while hazmat crews worked at the scene over the weekend. The incident is currently under investigation.
