Dozens Arrested in CA Halloween Sweep

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - California parole agents have arrested 85 sex-offender parolees during an annual statewide Halloween sweep known as "Operation Boo."  The agents checked on 1,700 parolees to make sure they were not contacting children out trick-or-treating.  The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said Thursday that agents confiscated seven weapons and found 17 parolees with narcotics.  They arrested five who had failed to report to parole agents and three more who had not properly reported their addresses to local law enforcement agencies.   Others were arrested for having pornography, possessing prohibited items such as toys and games that could be used to attract children, or for other violations of the conditions of their parole.   This was the 19th year agents conducted the Halloween crackdown.
