Chico Police are trying figure out how a man got into a gated area at the airport Wednesday and allegedly stole a fuel truck. Chico P-D received a call from a man reportedly saying that he was suicidal and needed help in the area of El Paso Way and East Lassen Avenue around 1 Wednesday afternoon, however officers could not locate him. About an hour later the man called Chico Police reportedly stating that he had just stolen a truck at the Chico Airport. At the same time police received a report that there was an unauthorized vehicle driving on the runway of the airport. According to a Chico Police Department press release, when officers arrived the jet fuel truck was then on Liberator Avenue where the man stopped the truck, he got out and was then taken to a mental health facility.
