An assault with a deadly weapon was reported at the parking lot of Ray's Liquor on Walnut Street around 1:30 Thursday morning. A witness told officers that a confrontation occurred in the parking lot and that a man allegedly pointed a loaded pistol at a friend of the witness. The armed suspect then reportedly left in a Subaru. Officers found that Subaru at a downtown parking structure.
According to a Chico Police Department press release, the driver, 25-year-old Barry Jenkins was arrested for DUI. A passenger, 28-year-old Jonathan Rodriguez was arrested for unlawfully possessing a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of cocaine. 24-year-old Heaven Cota was also arrested for possession of cocaine.
