Officers were approached by multiple people reporting the robbery that had occurred before 6:30 Thursday evening. The suspect reportedly spotted the officers and ran off. Some residents reportedly tackled the suspect and he was detained by officers. Police learned that the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Jehvon Castillo the 3rd had allegedly assaulted a man in an attempt to rob him of some marijuana. Several other people tried to intervene to assist the victim - at least one other person was reported to be assaulted by Castillo.

According to a Chico Police press release, the victim was in legal possession of recreational use marijuana.
