An Amtrak train that was traveling south, rounded a slight curve near West Sacramento Avenue, before 5 Saturday morning when the engineer noticed a man laying across the tracks. The Engineer attempted to stop the train, but was unable to avoid striking the man. The railroad crossing at West Sacramento Avenue was closed for about an hour while officers investigated the collision. According to Chico Police, the identity of the man has not yet been made.
