California Fire Fee Made Permanent

A state board has made a highly criticized rural fire fee in California permanent. The California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection approved the State Responsibility Area fee this week during a Sacramento hearing.  More than 800 thousand Californians living in rural communities began receiving bills for the $150 fee in August to cover fire prevention services. Critics have called the fee an illegal tax.
