Off Duty Officer Stops Attempted Robbery in Oroville

An off duty police officer reportedly stopped an attempted robbery at an Oroville credit union Monday.  48 year old Alexander Sears is accused of attempted bank robbery at the Sierra Central Credit Union on Oro Dam Boulevard.    Police tell the Mercury-Register newspaper that the off duty officer heard the suspect allegedly say it was a robbery and demand money.  The officer took Sears to the ground and held him for police.
