65-year-old William Mandril was sentenced in a Butte County court room Friday to the maximum prison term of six years in state prison on charges of vehicular manslaughter.
The case began October 2018 when CHP officers and rescue personnel arrived to the scene of a collision on Lower Wyandotte Road near Foothill Boulevard. Authorities say Mandril's vehicle had crossed the center line and struck three bystanders who had stopped to help with a disabled vehicle. 20-year-old Hillary Wilhite was killed and two others seriously injured. According to the Butte District Attorney's Office, Mandril was found to be under the influence of multiple drugs.
