Authorities Recover Bodies of Tehama County Drowning Victims

RED BLUFF, Calif. (AP) — Authorities in Northern California say they have recovered the bodies of a 27-year-old man and his 5-year-old son who apparently drowned in their family-owned pond. Tehama County Sheriff's Lt. Dave Greer says James Patrick Van Sickle and his son, James Arthur Van Sickle, were found Monday, two days after they went missing. Greer say deputies were called Saturday afternoon after James Patrick Van Sickle dove into Murphy's Pond in Red Bluff to rescue his son who had fallen in the water from a boat while they were fishing. Neither father nor son were not wearing life vests and could not immediately be found. Greer says Van Sickle's young daughter was also in the boat at the time but was rescued.
