Butte County authorities say a man defended himself with a knife in Oroville after reportedly being attacked with a hammer. The assault happened Tuesday morning on Myers Street. The Sheriff's Office says Jeanette Hughs and Albert Hammons allegedly attacked Marcos Diaz with a hammer. Investigators say the victim defended himself and stabbed Hammons in the neck with a knife. Hammons was stabilized at Oroville Hospital, then moved to a medical center out of the area. Hughs was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. The Sheriff's Office says criminal charges against Hammons are still possible.
