The addition of a new position in Chico City Hall is still in limbo. That from City Manager Brian Nakamua on the position of an Economic Development Manager. The addition of such a position created some controversy while the city looks at nearly 50 layoffs. Nakamura tells KPAY that whether he'll go ahead with the position remains unclear. Even with a new budget, Chico leaders are looking to restore an unspecified number of police positions without affecting other departments. Nakamura says he hopes to meet soon with Public Safety Officials and have something before the City Council in a few weeks.The 42 million dollar budget was approved Tuesday by the City Council on a 5-2 vote. It cuts the city work force to about 365 positions.
