The Chico Police Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) has been investigating the collision that occurred early Saturday morning at 8th and Main Streets. The pedestrian that was struck was identified as a 32-year-old male from Chico. The pedestrian is recovering at a local hospital from major injuries and is expected to survive. The driver, Vitaly Smith, was arrested the night of the incident for Felony DUI causing major injuries. Smith was transported to Butte County Jail where bail was set at $125,000.
