Chico and Paradise look for playoff wins

The North Section High School Football Playoffs continue tonight in what should be a soggy night in the North State. The 4th-seeded Chico High Panthers travel to Redding to take on top-seeded Enterprise in one of the semi-final match-ups. The other will be on the ridge in Paradise where the Bobcats take on possibly the hottest team in the section, Foothill.

Earlier this season Paradise waxed the Cougards 53-25, but head coach Rick Prinz of the Bobcats says this Foothill team is playing much better and is a dangerous team....

The good news for Paradise is that all of their injured players are healthy and ready to go, including senior wide-out Johnny Porter. Porter sprained his left ankle in a late season loss to Red Bluff. It was a bad sprain and Porter was on crutches for a week, but he has practiced for the last week and a half and looks good on the practice field. You can hear the game tonight at 7pm with our pre-game show at 6:45 on 101.7 FM and AM 1340 Fox Sports. You can also hear the game on our website at www.1340foxsports.com

In other match-ups, Orland tries to knock off undefeated Sutter while Hamilton takes on Modoc.

The Butte College Roadrunners play Fresno City College in their bowl game tomorrow afternoon. Butte comes in with a record of 9-1 and is looking to make their statement after being shut-out of the state title game picture. Mike Wessels will have the call at 1pm with the pre-game at 12:45pm on 101.7 FM and AM 1340 also online at 1340foxsports.com

The Butte College Men's Basketball team suffered a heart-breaking loss last night in Ukiah at the Mendocino College Tournament. Leading by one with under a second to go, Consumnes River scored on a put-back after a long offensive rebound. Butte falls by a score of 69-68. Kenny McMillan led Butte with 18 points. The Roadrunners take on College of the Redwoods today at 3pm.

The Chico State Men's and Women's Basketball teams open their season on Saturday. The women hit the road and take on Fresno Pacific. The Wildcats return 9 players from last year's NCAA Tournament team. Head coach Brian Fogel feels depth will be a strength to this year's team. But, he adds his starting unit will be one of the best in the CCAA.....

The Chico State Women will be on KPAY at 3pm with our pre-game at 2:45

After two exhibition games against Division I opponents, the Wildcat men  take on NAIA opponent Pacifica. The Wildcats have been picked by CCAA coaches to win the conference and that journey begins on Saturday night.

Head coach Greg Clink says the Cats' learned a lot about themselves with their two exhibtions, especially in the second half against Pac-12 favorite and nationally ranked Arizona....
