Chico Man Charged With Murder Gives His Plea In Court

50-year-old Christopher Swilhart was in Butte County Superior Court on Thursday and changed his original plea from not guilty by reason of insanity to a plea of no contest to second-degree murder in the death of 55-year-old Cass Edison.

Investigators arrived at a home on Rose Avenue in Chico in March of 2015 after a body of a woman had been discovered. Investigators linked Swilhart to the alleged murder. He later turned himself in at Fall River Mills.

Swilhart's sentencing is set for May 12th. If convicted he faces 17 years-to-life in prison.
