20-year-old Alejandro Ramirez of Oroville is the man whose body was pulled from a canal near the Thermalito Afterbay Saturday afternoon. Authorities say Ramirez drove his BMW 750 at a high rate of speed into the canal after crashing through a fence off Grand Avenue.

A maintenance worker with the Department of Water Resources noticed the fence damage and vehicle parts in the canal Friday afternoon and called for help. The sheriff's Dive Team retrieved the vehicle, and Ramirez was found dead inside.
