In the days after his death last week, many fans may have had a hard time finding Prince's music online,. There's a reason for that. Prince may have been an innovator when it came to music, but when it came to technology, he was pretty old school. It seems he maintained an unusual degree of control over his music. He was his own publisher, negotiations were not through lawyers but directly with him, and he refused to release his music to Spotify, Alphabet or Google's You Tube. And with no obvious heirs it's anyone's guess whether anyone will soften any of the hard positions taken by the pop star over issues like digital rights to his music. Oh, and Prince said he didn't own an iPhone and considered the Internet a passing fad.
