Chico Police and Chico Fire arrived to the 200 block of West East Avenue after reports of a vehicle fire after 12 am Saturday. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, but the small SUV was destroyed. Witnesses reported seeing a woman allegedly walking away from the vehicle with a male following her. Officers found the woman, identified as 34-year-old Maria Sarnowski. According to police, Sarnowski had allegedly assaulted the man seen with her. She was arrested for domestic violence and arson.
