Oroville police were called out to Wheelock Road for a welfare check on 55-year-old John Brown who had allegedly threatened suicide around 11:30 Saturday morning. Deputies arrived and detained Brown. According to deputies, a heavy smell of propane was reportedly coming from Brown's home. Residents of the mobile home park were evacuated and the gas was turned off. Upon further investigation it was determined that Brown had reportedly threatened to fill his home with propane and blow himself and the mobile home park up.
