Assemblyman James Gallagher honored Chico Police officer Sophia Maggiora as the 2016 Woman of the Year for the Third Assembly District. Officer Maggiora attended a special Assembly ceremony in Sacramento.
Maggiora attended Pleasant Valley High School where she became a Chico Police Explorer. She then joined the Chico Police Department in 2014 and in 2016 she was appointed as a Crime Scene Investigator. According to a Police Department press release, Maggiora also volunteers as a law enforcement liaison connecting victims of domestic violence with Catalyst Domestic Violence Services.
