A Suspected Car Thief is Rescued From Big Chico Creek

Officers rescue a suspected car thief from Big Chico Creek. A woman reported her vehicle stolen from her central Chico residence on Friday. On Saturday the woman was at Bear Hole in Upper Bidwell Park and she spotted her vehicle with two men inside. Officers arrived and found the car unoccupied. Officers then spotted two men swimming in Big Chico Creek. According to a Chico Police press release, the first suspect, identified as 54-year-old Martin Plummer was able to get out of the water safely. The second suspect, 55-year-old Richard Kennedy however, was pulled under water. Officers along with Chico Fire crews were able to rescue Kennedy. Both suspects were then arrested.
