An Oroville man is sentenced in a child sex abuse case

60-year-old Randy Dahl was sentenced, last week, to 16 years in prison for child molestation and he was ordered to $300,000 to the victim.
That victim, a 9-year-old boy, told authorities in 2016 that he had been abused by Dahl as far as he could remember. According to a Butte County District Attorney Office press release, investigators found evidence that Dahl had been molesting the boy since he was 3-years-old. Investigators also searched Dahl's computer and found child pornography.
During the Sentencing hearing, the prosecutor state that Dahl had been molesting boys most of his adult life. The DA's Office says that the latest victim is a hero for reporting the crime and breaking the cycle of abuse.
Dahl will be evaluated under the state's sexually violent predator program which could place him into a state hospital for life.
