A man leads police on a chase in Chico early this morning. Officers attempted to stop a Honda Civic reportedly driven by 33-year-old Tau Thao on Cohasset Road before 1 am this morning but he allegedly took off leading officers on a chase. Thao allegedly crashed the car in some shrubbery in the area of the Esplande and East Sacramento Avenue after reportedly driving recklessly. Thao then reportedly tried to hide on a roof of a nearby house. According to Chico Police Department press release, Thao was arrested for vehicle theft, DUI, possession of a controlled substance, and evading with wanton disregard for the safety of the public.
Police also say that one of the passengers of the Honda was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant. A female passenger was released at the scene.
