Cherokee Fire

A wildfire is burning hundreds of acres north of Oroville. The Cherokee Fire started Sunday in the area of Cherokee Road and Zonalea Lane in the Cherokee area. Cal Fire is reporting the blaze at 500 acres however, other news sources are saying that it's up to 800 acres plus.

There are evacutation orders issued for Red Tape Road West to the Sand Mine, Table Moutain Ranch east of Table Mountain Road.

There are evacuation warnings for the East side of Cherokee Road from Red Tape Road to Derrick Road and all of Coal Canyon Road.

Highway 99 at Highway 149 was reported closed to traffic just before 5 am this morning.
