Authorities are investigating an attempted a kidnapping in Gridley Monday morning. A 20 year old Gridley woman pulled off Highway 99 into an orchard to check her tire pressure north of the Butte/Sutter County Line around 10 am. A man allegedly approached her for help, then attempted to drag her towards his vehicle but she was able to get away. The man reportedly got back into his truck and headed southbound on 99 towards Live Oak.

Authorities say the suspect was a white male, about 50 or 60 years old with short, curly salt and pepper hair and a mustache. Anyone with information is urged to call the Butte County Sheriff's Office at 538-7322.
