Chico Police are searching for a suspected jewelry thief. A man entered the Kay Jewelers at the Chico Mall before 9 Saturday night and requested to see a gold necklace. When the necklace was showed to him, he then allegedly took off with the jewelry. The employee attempted to grab the suspect but was reportedly pepper sprayed. The suspect reportedly got into a black or dark blue BMW sedan and fled the area before officers arrived.

The suspect was described as either a white or Hispanic male.
