Camp Fire and Stoney Fire Acreage Comparison

From KPAY Meteorologist Anthony Watts:

The #CampFire has burned approximately 125,000 acres according to this morning's briefing by Sheriff Honea.

The Stoney Fire has burned approximately 1000 acres near east Chico (962). That puts us at approximately 126,000 acres burned in the last week.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are 1073280 total acres in Butte County. 2.4% of it is water surface (Lake Oroville, etc) leaving 1047040 acres of land surface

Some simple math: 126,000/1047040 x100 = ~ 12% of the county has burned so far. Sobering.
