Chico Shoplift and Resisting Arrest

An alleged shoplifter strikes a Chico Police officer. An Officer reportedly saw a shoplift in progress at the AM/PM mini mart on West 9th Street around 10:30 Sunday night. The officer recognized the suspect, 41-year-old Billy Faga and told him to stop. The officer reportedly used a tasser, but police say it was ineffective on the suspect. Faga then allegedly charged at the officer and swung at him several times. The officer was reportedly struck once. Other officers arrived and after a brief and reportedly violent struggle Faga was finally detained. According to a Chico Police press release, Faga was arrested for battery on an officer and resisting with violence along with felony probation and shoplifting.
