Chico Police are investigating a shooting during the Cesar Chavez Holiday weekend. Officers arrived to the area of West 3rd Street and Cedar Street around 8 pm Saturday where they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Police then learned that a male victim had been driven to the hospital by friends. Investigators say that during a large party a fight broke out and during the confrontation, someone allegedly pulled a firearm and fired several shots. Both gunshot victims are currently reported in stable condition. According to a Chico Police Department press release, the female victim, identified only as a college student, was not apart of the fight, but was at the "wrong place at the wrong time".

Anyone who was in the area of the party that night is asked to contact the Chico Police Department at 897-4900 and reference report number 19-02182.
