On Saturday a Chico Police officer on the 300 block of Nord Avenue saw a vehicle that had been reported stolen two days earlier. As the officer pulled behind the vehicle the driver reportedly accelerated away. Other officers then joined the pursuit, however, they stopped the chase when conditions became unsafe. Officers continued the pursuit in the Chapmantown area. Police say the vehicle ran out of gas and the suspect then fled on foot. According to Chico Police, the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Anthony Beck allegedly entered a residence of an acquaintance on Cypress Avenue and was found hiding in a loft. He was arrested for numerous charges.
