The Chico Police Traffic Unit responded to the crash after 7:30 Monday morning. Officers learned that 66-year-old Clarence Perry Jr. was traveling southbound on Ceanothus Avenue at allegedly twice the posted speed limit for the school zone. His car then reportedly collided with a slower moving vehicle ahead of him. According to a Chico Police press release, the force of the collision caused a chain reaction of impacts that involved four vehicles. Several passengers were taken to the hospital, but police say no one was seriously injured. Parry was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance, causing injury along with other related charges.
