D.A. Mike Ramsey is reminding residents living in unincorporated portions of the county that any possession of fireworks, even those designated as Safe and Sane within unincorporated portions of Butte County is strictly prohibited. Only the cities of Oroville and Gridley allow for the sale of Safe and Sane fireworks within their city limits. Ramsey says the lighting or even possession of any fireworks outside those city limits is illegal and considered a felony. He adds that fire danger is high and that those caught will be subject to fines upwards of a thousand dollars and six months in jail.
