Chico Stabbing

Chico Police respond to a stabbing incident. Officers arrived to the former Graduate Restaurant on West 8th Street around 5:40 Wednesday morning and located a man suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen. The male victim informed officers that an unknown man had approached him and allegedly demanded his bicycle. When the victim refused, the suspect reportedly struck the victim with a metal water bottle. That lead to a struggle in which both men pulled knives and reportedly stabbed each other. The suspect fled on the victim's bike. Officers found the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Anthony McEnespy-Mendoza of Chico who had a stab wound to the hand. He was arrested for robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. According to Chico Police, both men were treated at the hospital for non-life threatening wounds.
