Authorities have released more details from the standoff in Nord Wednesday. Butte Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a home on the 55 hundred block of California Street. before 2:30 am for a welfare check. 35-year-old Carl Ackerman had reportedly made threats to kill himself and his children, ages two and seven. According to a Butte County Sheriff's Office press release, he allegedly threatened the children's mother via text messages. The SWAT team and negotiators eventually resolved the situation peacefully. Ackerman was arrested for kidnapping, making criminal threats, false imprisonment, and a number of other charges.
