Officer apprehended a prowler in North Chico Thursday. Chico Police received a report of a man who was chased away from a backyard after allegedly braking through the fence. One of the responding officers spotted a man who matched the description of the alleged prowler walking into the Center for Spiritual Living on Hillary Lane. Several people were inside the center at the time. Officer set a perimeter around the building and gave orders for the suspect to come out. After no response, officers entered the building. A K-9 officer found the suspect, identified as 45-year-old Victor Petkus hiding in the bathroom. According to a Chico Police press release, it was determined that Petkus had an outstanding warrant for violating his parole. He was arrested for that charge and for delaying officers.
