Mountain Fire

A wildfire burning northeast of Redding has caused thousands to evacuate Thursday. Cal Fire officials say the Mountain Fire started Thursday afternoon in the area of Bear Mountain Road and Dry Creek Road north of Bella Vista and has burned 600 acres and is now 40 percent contained. According to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office, over one thousand homes were threatened and nearly four thousand people were evacuated Thursday.

SR 299 is now reopened to traffic between Old Oregon Trail and Deschutes Road.

Shasta College's campus has been closed.
