A man is custody after allegedly using his vehicle as a weapon and leading Chico Police on a pursuit. Officers arrived to the Chico Mall before 1:30 Monday afternoon and learned that man, identified as 43-year-old Nathaniel Lowe came up to someone claiming his girlfriend had been kidnapped. Officers were then called out to Highway 32 and Bruce Road where a woman told them that the driver of a maroon pickup allegedly intentionally hit her car. The woman was unhurt in the crash.

Officers located the pickup truck in the area of Highway 32 and Forest Avenue where the driver, identified as Lowe reportedly lead officers on a pursuit. According to a Chico Police Department press release, officers immobilized the vehicle and Lowe was taken into custody. The kidnapping claim was found to be false.
