24-year-old John Dudley Pilgram received five years in State Prison and was ordered to pay more than $27,000 in restitution to the victim.

The incident happened on July 10th when Pilgram stole a truck from a Gridley Auto Body Shop. The owner of the truck tried to stop him, but was dragged as he hung on to the door and the inside of the truck. The owner ended up getting injured when he fell to the pavement as Pilgram accelerated. According to the Butte County District Attorney's Office, the victim was airlifted to the hospital for significant injuries. Pilgram took the truck to Yuba City, where he admitted he intended to sell it to buy heroin.
