Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey announced Tuesday that his office will not pursue drug trafficking charges for 28-year-old Brandon Teixeira. This will open the way for Teixeira to be extradited to Canada to face homicide charges. Those charges stem from the 2017 shooting death of 28-year-old Nicolas Khabra in Surrey, British Columbia, according to Global News. He was taken into custody Sunday on the 100 block of Weedy Way in Oroville.

Butte County Sheriff's investigators believe Teixeira had been hiding out in Oroville for about a year.
