A Butte County jury Friday Convicted 35-year-old Edgar Muscat of felony assault causing serious bodily harm. He faces up to 24 years in state prison when he is sentenced.

The incident happened in 2017 when a Chico State science professor rented a room to Muscat. According to the Butte County District Attorney's Office, Muscat attacked the professor after he begun to evict Muscat for alcohol and drug use. District Attorney Mike Ramsey says the professor has suffered severe and disabling injuries to the face, shoulder, and brain from the attack.
