The annual spraying covers a 6 to 8 foot area along roadsides to keep the road edges and ditches free of noxious weeds which, also reduces fire risks and keeps drainage ditches clear to prevent future flooding. According to county officials, trained and licensed operators will do all spraying in strict compliance with the Butte County Agricultural Commissioner requirements.
If you'd rather not have the County perform roadside spraying adjacent to your property, you are urged to contact the Butte County Department of Public Works to arrange for a "no spray" agreement. For a list of roads being treated you can go to butte county dot net.
