Chico Police Department and Coronavirus Concerns

Chico Police say along with closing their front counter and lobby areas to the public, the department is preparing staffing contingency plans and they will be activating their internal Command System. According to Chico Police, they are limiting access to critical units in their department and have limited or even eliminated some non-essential meetings and travel by their staff. The police department says they are equipping officers with personal protective equipment and are in the process of providing additional equipment.

According to a Chico Police Department press release, public safety dispatchers will be inquiring if there are any flu-like symptoms or if the person calling is under quarantine, so that first responders may be prepared when arriving to the call.

Police say to please call (530) 897-4900 for non-emergency calls and to utilize the police department's online reporting system, accessible through the department's website.
