PG&E Plea Agreement with the Butte County DA's Office

PG&E has reached a plea agreement and will plead guilty to starting the Camp Fire. Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey confirmed today that the utility plans to plead guilty as charged to 85 felony counts of Involuntary Manslaughter and one count of unlawfully causing a fire. That count includes three special allegations, including causing multiple structures to burn.

PG&E will pay around 4 billion dollars in fines. This includes 500 thousand dollars in expenses related to the Butte County District Attorney's Office investigation. According to the District Attorney's Office, the utility also agreed to pay for access to water for the next two years to residents impacted by the destruction of the Miocene Canal and to re-water the canal.
